In SHIELD, installations at a location/EDGE is an independent installation consisting of sensors, actuators, video cameras, audio system, communication devices, data collation modules, local processing and data storage system. It can stand alone and deliver the functionalities without external support. There is no limit to the number of devices that can be connected.
The EDGE system can communicate with the remote management system through a redundant multimode WAN connection.
Shield has a main control panel for EDGE data collation and processing. The data collation extension module can be connected for transmitting data via different communication protocols like Wi-Fi, BLE, Xbee, Ethernet, RS485. An IP camera module manage audio and IP camera I/O interfacing. The PHYSIC expansion module may be used to add on additional sensors / actuators.
The final configuration of the hardware depends on the application which can be altered even after installation.
SHIELD Panel is designed for maximum reliability with 6KV optical isolation. The main panel is configurable with multiple of 7 Digital and 14 Analog inputs and 7 Relay outputs. If the expansion module enables a combination of digital inputs and/or Relay outputs up to a maximum of 21 I/Os. For example; one can have 14 relay outputs and 7 Digital inputs.
It supports multiple means of redundant communication. It switches from primary to secondary automatically.
There is no limit to the number of IP cameras that can be installed at a location. Additional SHIELD panels can be added on as required in a location. The audio channels of the mother board can be used in addition to the facility provided in specific models of IP cameras.
The EDGE can be powered from the mains or battery or solar panel and use mains/battery as a fallback.
